Intro to Canine Stockmanship Clinic
May 16–17 | Nordika Stockdogs
This two-day immersive clinic is designed as an introduction to the world of stockmanship through the lens of your dog.
Whether you’re brand new or have dabbled a little, this is where things start to make sense.
We’re not just teaching dogs to move sheep.
We’re teaching you how to read your dog, understand pressure, and step into a working partnership.
What you’ll explore:
- Understanding your dog’s natural instincts and drives
- How to use pressure, space, and timing as communication (not force)
- Building calm, responsive movement around livestock
- Developing your ability to feel and influence the moment
- Creating an on/off switch so your dog can work and relax in real-world environments
What makes this different:
This is not a “do this, then that” style clinic.
We focus on principles — the kind that carry across:
- different dogs
- different stock
- different environments
You’ll start to see why things happen… not just how to fix them.
Who this is for:
- First-timers curious about stock work
- Handlers wanting to better understand their dog
- Dogs with herding instinct (any breed welcome)
- Anyone looking to build a more intentional, thoughtful working relationship
No previous stock experience required.
What to expect:
- Hands-on work with livestock
- Small group format for individualized support
- Time for discussion, questions, and reflection
- A supportive, low-pressure environment where both you and your dog can learn
A note on the work:
Stockmanship has a way of showing you what’s real — in your dog and in yourself.
Come curious.
Come open.
Come ready to learn.
Spots are limited to maintain quality and safety for both dogs and livestock.
